# Lisbon — A 48-Hour Itinerary

A weekend route I've actually walked with friends. Slow travel — built for people who want one neighborhood per half-day, not eight bullet points.

## Friday afternoon — Príncipe Real

Land late morning, drop bags. First stop:

- **Hello, Kristof** for a flat white and the cardamom bun. Sit upstairs. Don't rush.
- Walk downhill into **Jardim do Príncipe Real**. Get a beer at the kiosk in the middle of the park.
- **Embaixada** — 19th-century palace turned concept store. Browse, even if you don't buy.
- Dinner: **Tasca da Esquina** in nearby Campo de Ourique. Order the cuttlefish and whatever the daily fish is.

## Saturday morning — Alfama

- Tram 28 from Praça do Comércio. Get off at **Largo das Portas do Sol** for the view.
- Walk down through the alleyways, stopping at any of the small *miradouros* (lookouts) along the way.
- Late breakfast at **Pastéis de Belém** if you make it that far. Worth the line, just barely.
- Afternoon: **Mosteiro dos Jerónimos** — book in advance, don't queue.

## Saturday evening — Chiado + Bairro Alto

- Pre-dinner drinks at **Pensão Amor** (lush, weird, intimate).
- Dinner: **Cantina LX** in LX Factory. Casual, big plates, share.
- Late: walk over to **Park Bar** for the rooftop, or stay local and listen to fado at **Mesa de Frades**.

## Sunday — slow morning + walk west

- Breakfast at **Dear Breakfast** in Santos. Cinnamon bun, again.
- Walk west along the river toward **Belém**. ~45 minutes. Stop at **MAAT** if it's open — even just for the architecture.
- Lunch: **Cervejaria Trindade** for clams and a beer. Tile work alone is worth the visit.

## Logistics

- **Stay:** Príncipe Real or Chiado. Both walkable to everywhere on this list.
- **Cards:** most places take them now. Bring some cash for the smaller tascas.
- **Transit:** Walk + tram 28. Skip the metro for this trip — you'd miss too much.
- **Reservations:** Tasca da Esquina, Mesa de Frades, and Cervejaria Trindade fill up. Book Friday morning at the latest.

## What to skip

- Castelo de São Jorge unless you really want a castle. The view is better from Largo das Portas do Sol, free.
- Time Out Market. Crowded, expensive, the food is fine. You're not in Lisbon to eat at a food court.
